This was my first time in Cairo in Egypt, and I went to visit one of the most fascinating historical sites – one of the Seven Wonders of the World, the Pyramids of Giza.
The Giza Pyramid complex is also know as The Giza Necropolis. The pyramids were constructed during the 4th dynasty of the old kingdom of Ancient Egypt. The site also includes several cemeteries and the remains of a workers village. It is by far the oldest of the Ancient Wonders and the only one still in existence.

In the archaeological site you can find the Great Pyramid of Giza, which is the tallest and the oldest, followed by Pyramid of Khafre the second tallest and second largest, and also Pyramid of Menkaure the smallest of the three.

The Great Sphinx of Giza, commonly referred to as the Sphinx of Giza, Great Sphinx or just the Sphinx, is a limestone statue of a reclining sphinx, a mythical creature with the head of a man, and the body of a lion.

The people of Ancient Egypt believed that death on Earth was the start of a journey to the next world. The embalmed body of the King was entombed underneath or within the pyramid to protect it and allow his transformation and ascension to the afterlife. It is very interesting to think how they built all this, and had such an amazing knowledge in how to preserve the body by mummifying.

I felt positively overwhelmed by this experience, and very much advise everybody to visit this incredible archaeological site!
