Wonderful Wisley!

Wisley Gardens is one of the finest gardens in the world. It has a very big display of plants from all over the globe. One of the best things about it is that it’s an always-evolving place not only through seasonal changes, but with newly created displays to keep the visitors entertained. It is a garden that can be visited in all seasons.

The huge Glasshouse is set next to a lake with stunning ornamental herbaceous borders. It has a large variety of plants, is very well kept and worthy of a visit.

Key highlights throughout the seasons include the Glasshouse, Rock Garden, Bowes-Lyon Rose Garden, The Mixed Borders and the newly-created Exotic Garden. Seasonal must-sees include a carpet of crocuses in spring, the blooming rose collection in summer, the magnificent colours in autumn, and a crisp Winter Walk.

Wisley was given to the RHS (Royal Horticulture Society) in 1903 and is now a hub of horticultural excellence and a top visitor attraction, with 97ha (240 acres) to explore. It is home to some of the largest plant collections anywhere in the world and showcases inspirational gardening. Planting schemes are constantly evolving to ensure there’s always something new to excite and inspire visitors.

Now that the world is opening up slowly after the coronavirus pandemic, I hope to be able to travel to more exciting places again in the future. But for now, this local attraction is a must-see.

  1. Thanks for the great post! I’ve been to Wisely when they had all of the lights up for their winter walk around Christmas time – I would definitely recommend checking that out!
