Walking around the Southbank in London I came across this colourful and amazing tunnel. Although I have passed many times near to this area, I never thought that a place like this existed.

Leake Street is situated under the platforms of Waterloo Station. The street is 300 meters long. Despite that graffiti is against the law, in this place it is tolerated. Here there was a famous work by Banksy, an anonymous England-based street artist, political activist, and film director, active since the 1990s.

There is an events programme that brings you an exciting range of events at Leake Street Arches throughout the year – #LeakeStreetLIVE. You can actually do a graffiti painting course, and see the artists in action. It is a celebration of urban art, dining and entertainment located underneath Waterloo Station. Due to the Covid-19 situation at the moment, events, and visits have to follow government guidelines.

Adjoining London’s longest legal graffiti wall on Leake Street (which has made its name as a democratic cultural venue for street art) Leake Street Arches is an exciting street-culture led destination.
After having this amazing cultural experience I walked along the river and had the pleasure of seeing interesting views of the Houses of Parliament, ending my London day walk on a high.
There is quote from Samuel Johnson that says something like ‘if you are tired of London you are tired of life’: there is always something nice and exciting to do here, you just have to look for it.
Hi. Great city. I was last there in 2012. Would love to visit again some day.

And because they can legally do the graffiti in this place, they have more time to work on it.
