It is such a pleasure to be back in the amazing city of Munich. Even better to return on a beautiful sunny spring day. The stunning architecture really reflects the sunlight. One of the most interesting cities in Germany for me, a favourite indeed.
If you ever happen to come to Germany don’t hesitate to visit this place, and don’t waste your precious time. I could come back here, over and over again, and still be delighted.
Munich’s huge brick Frauenkirche – the Cathedral Church of Our Lady – was completed in 1488, a Late Gothic church that owes its impact to its great size. Massive twin 100-meter-tall towers, with their characteristic Renaissance domes, tower over a high building 109 meters long by 40 meters wide.
The Theatine Church of St. Cajetan (Theatinerkirche St. Kajetan), a basilica built in the style of the Italian High Baroque, was completed in 1690, with a stunning façade, twin towers, a massive 71-meter-high dome, and richly decorated interior.
Marienplatz has been Munich’s central square since the city’s foundation; the site of medieval jousting tournaments, and, until 1807, where markets were held.
There are a lot of things to do in Munich, and everything is within walking distance. I was lucky to have such a glorious sunny Sunday here. I went for a wander by the river, a gorgeous place to hang around.
Munich is definitely a city of many surprises. I was privileged to be able to come back here, and enjoy the beautiful day!

Great! Thank you, and have a nice Sunday!
Here, we are only 220 km away from Munich, our distance to Praha (CZ) is much more shorter. LOL Michael

Aaaaawh, you have been in Munich again, and didn’t call me!… The first church services in the Theatinerkirche were held in 1690, that’s right, but the church has been totally completed many years later, in 1765. 😉

Wow, that dome is incredible! I always wonder how they managed something like that so long ago. 😊

Hi, I enjoyed the photographs of the church interiors with the sun flooding in. I think a bright, sunny, spring day would be very welcome after a long, cold, dark German winter.
