On my intensive one day trip to Transylvania, I visited beautiful castles, such as Bran Castle, Rasnov Fortress, but one place that I wished I had more time to explore was Brașov. This city is amazing, surrounded by the Carpathian mountains.
This amazing city its known for its medieval Saxon walls and bastions, the towering Gothic-style Black Church and lively cafes. Piaţa Sfatului (Council Square) in the cobbled old town is surrounded by colourful baroque buildings and is home to the Casa Sfatului, a former town hall turned local history museum.
The council square is very pretty and colorful. I was there on a Saturday, and the square was full of young people enjoying the nice sunny day.
Biserica Neagră or Black Church is a church in Brașov. It was built by the German community of the city and stands as the main Gothic style monument in the country, as well as being the largest and one of the most important Lutheran (Evangelical Church of Augustan Confession in Romania) places of worship in the region.
The black church is really pretty inside, but by the time I got there it was closed for visitors, unfortunately. Brasov is definitely a city that I would love to go back to, and explore more. Very easily reached by train from Bucharest main train station.
Nice pictures…

Thank you! Do you think that the arquitecture is quite German?

Yes, I think it is… There are several large German communities in Romania, at least there have been.
