Liebster Award

I would like to give a big thank you to The Anxious Traveler for nominating me for The Liebster Award. I feel very honoured to receive it. I would recommend you visit The Anxious Traveler blog. It is a fantastic blog about travel that I enjoy reading.

As per the rules, I have some psyche-exposing questions to answer, and The Anxious Traveler has come up with some rather marvellous ones. Here we go!

1. Where is your favourite place in the world?

That is a difficult question to answer. There are so many wonderful places to visit out there. If I have to choose one I think that it would be Rio de Janeiro. It’s a fantastic city to visit. You have a rainforest right in the middle of the city, which is the biggest urban rainforest in the world. It has a beautiful coastline, is the home of Bossa Nossa, has some great museums, and everywhere you turn there are beautiful views.

2. What’s your funniest travel story?

I tend to travel a lot, and there are so many stories to tell that I’m struggling to think of one in particular. I was in Amman once, and we decided to hire a car to go to the Dead Sea. Brilliant idea! On the way there it was a really easy drive, quite straightforward. On the way back we got completely lost, and could not find the way back. We kept stopping at petrol stations asking for directions, but nobody could speak English, none of us spoke Arabic, we didn’t have the hotel address to show people, or the hotel’s phone number. After three hours of desperation, we met someone that could speak a little English who drove us half the way, and explained how to navigate the other half. We were so stressed out – but we got back in the end!

3. What would you say is your biggest accomplishment?

I think my biggest accomplishment was to move country, to live in a city I really love (London), and be able to enjoy all the great things it has to offer. ‘When a man is tired of London, he is tired of life’ (Samuel Johnson). I never get tired of it… apart from the weather!

4. What makes you happiest?

Being able to travel around the world, and being around people that I love.

5. Who is your role model?

I don’t really have a role model. I tend to read lots of blogs on WordPress, and all the people here inspire me to do better every time. I think what is important is to share experiences and improve from them.

6. How many countries have you visited so far?

Well, there are so many. Most place I have visited have been in Europe, South East Asia, the Middle East, Central Asia, and South America. I think If I had to count them, I would say around 40.

7. What’s the best thing about the area where you live?

The area where I live is really quiet and green. My neighbours are really lovely and friendly, and it’s only twenty minutes from Central London. I don’t think it could be any better.

8. What makes you nervous? Any phobias?

My cat normally likes bringing “gifts” for me in the morning, this makes me very nervous as she usually brings something in from the garden… I’m really scared of squeaky frogs. I’m terrified of frogs actually.

9. What can’t you live without?

I think I couldn’t live without traveling. We are living in a globalized world, and travelling is part of our routine now.

10. The important one – cats or dogs?

The answer here is very clear, I prefer cats. They are lovely, fluffy, and independent, but quite affectionate as well. It think they are really clever: they make us do exactly what they want us do to. Isn’t it clever?
